2021 plenary meeting of international scientific advisory committee of cfsa held online

On November 30, 2021 plenary meeting of International Scientific Advisory Committee (ISC) of China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment was held online. More than 70 people attended the meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General Dr. Fan Yongxiang. He reviewed the work of CFSA and highly appreciated the contribution of ISC. Pan Deng, director of Division of Development Planning of CFSA, reported on the preparation of "The 14th Five Year Development Plan" of CFSA (2021-2025). Xu Ru, director of Division of Science, Education and International Cooperation, reported on the preparation of the "food safety risk assessment Conference". International consultants put forward targeted and constructive suggestions on the future development direction, key work areas and how to enhance the international influence of CFSA. The international consultants also had in-depth exchanges with the technical backbone of CFSA on antibiotic resistance, foodborne disease burden assessment, new risk factor assessment methods, cost-benefit assessment of risk management and other issues of common concern in the field of food safety.

In concluding speech, Dr. Li Ning, Director General of CFSA, reviewed the work and achievements of CFSA in food safety risk assessment, monitoring, standards, application of nutrition and promotion of information technology in recent two years. Combined with “The 14th Five Year Development Plan”, the future development of CFSA is prospected. Dr. Li Ning spoke highly of the contribution made by ISC to the development of CFSA, and hoped that in the future work, CFSA would have closer contact with all experts of the committee, with cooperation more fruitful and creative.
